CAMPING & PENS

We will be using the Elm Fork Trailhead. You may dry camp with your horses at the Elm Fork Trailhead at no charge both Friday and Saturday night, compliments for TPWD for this event. Generators will be allowed and water will be provided for the horses as well as a public restroom (no showers).  You can tie line, tie to the trailer, or use portable pens.

Pens are available at the Isle Du Bois Trailhead. The Isle Du Bois Trailhead is 2 miles driving distance from the Elm Fork Trailhead, around 4 miles riding distance by trail. There are 12 pens available, grouped in 2s with a shared fence in between them. Water available, bathroom available, no electric.

To reserve a pen:
1 - submit your pen reservation online with the TPWD. Here's the link: http://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/ray-roberts-lake/fees-facilities/campsites

2 - Indicate your reservation with your ETS registration. Host will then call TPWD to confirm your site as equestrian use and to keep non-equestrians apart from ETS riders (non-equestrians can also reserve these spots).

OUR PURPOSE

This event is organized by the Lake Ray Roberts Equestrian Trail Association (LRRETA) which is a group of enthusiastic, dedicated equestrians whose mission is to preserve and enhance the trails of the Greenbelt. LRRETA is a part of the Greenbelt Alliance of Denton County. The Greenbelt Alliance of Denton County is a non-profit 501(c) 3 community-based, volunteer organization that fosters awareness of the Greenbelt (trails south of the dam on road FM 455 in Pilot Point); generates public support; promotes recreational and educational opportunities; and encourages preservation of the Greenbelt in its present, scenic, natural state for the benefit of all. This event is to raise matching funds for trail grants currently in progress. These projects include construction of a new elevated walkway to replace the washed out low water crossing on the trail, overnight pens at Isle du Bois and repair eroded areas due to flooding in the past two years on trail north of Isle du Bois. The entire equestrian/multi-use trail is 26 miles, with 12.5 miles open at this time. Your entry fee on Sunday includes a donation for these projects but additional donations are always appreciated.
