About The Venue

This years event has changed locations to the Ketchum Calf Rodeo Grounds in beautiful Glenwood, WA.  This location is about 12 miles east on paved roads from our previous location.  Plenty of dry camping and water is available.  There are no pens on bring your own corrals or bring your high line set up, there are plenty of trees. Trails meander thru forest land with some uphill and downhills but safe and quiet areas.  Wildlife is abundant and we will skirt farm land and cattle pastures.  Good water crossings on the trail.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE KLICKATAT COUNTY ROAD DEPT IS WORKING HARD TO COMPLETE THEIR TROUT LAKE HWY WIDENING AND OVERLAY.  PLEASE KNOW THAT THE LAST MILE TO THE RODEO GROUNDS IS NEW HARD PACK GRAVEL BASE .  THE CONTRACTOR CONTACTED ME THIS WEEK AND THEY WILL NOT BE WORKING ON THE ROAD DURING OUR EVENT AND WILL BEGIN THE PAVING PROCESS ON MONDAY, AUG 3RD.  I SINCERELY APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS MAY CAUSE.

Event Details

Come join us for 2 days of relaxing trail riding on the eastern foothills of Mt Adams in the beautiful Glenwood Valley. Trails wind thru the thick forest and along streams offering a wide variety of vegetation and beauty.  Ride will be approximately 6 miles each day.

Day Riders Very Welcome.  Saturday Night Dinner Gathering, Bring your own food & beverages.

We will be practicing Social Distancing and Safety Protocols.  We ask you to please remember that in this time of social distancing you consider others as you move around camp and other areas.  If you would like to wear a mask then I encourage you to do what you feel is right.  No one will care.  Disposable gloves will be available to all riders.  Please do not toss them on the ground (we will provide zip lock bags to dispose of them in).  Everyone is required to sign a health waver to comply with health regulations.

Port-a-potty will be located near the registration trailer & water spigot and the American Flag. There will be a bottle of sanitizer spray in the port-a-potty.  Please use the spray if you use the port-a-potty.

Please pack your trash out with you.  The Rodeo Grounds Committee was kind enough to allow us to use their facility and I want to make certain it is cleaner than when we arrive.  Same goes with the trails.  I will be closing the gate on Saturday night so that we will be contained in case a horse gets loose.  Please spread your manure.

If you have any questions please see me.

The Terrain

Trails are well maintained and are suitable for all ages and abilities. Some areas are rocky so boots or shoes are recommended. We will be riding on old logging accesses and trails.  Plenty of shade and water in two places on the trail.

Event Host Directions:

IMPORTANT the Hood River Bridge is very narrow, please consider the following options for crossing the Columbia River:  If coming from Eastern Oregon/Washington on I-84, please take The Dalles Bridge to WA Hwy 14 and travel West approximately 22 miles to Hwy 141, follow 141 towards Trout Lake approximately 16 miles to Warner Road. Turn right, Warner Road will turn into Sunnyside Rd (follow the lay of the road). Turn right on Trout Lake Hwy/Trout Lake Greenwood Rd (stop sign when road T’s).  Continue about 11 miles, rodeo grounds are on the left turn in and follow signs to contestant gate.

Do not take the GLENWOOD HWY at BC Corners (that road is very crooked).  Continue on 141 to Warner Road. (BIG brown sign say Conboy Wildlife Refuge)

If coming from I-84  east bound please take The Bridge of the Gods in Cascade Locks (this is a toll bridge), turn right on WA Hwy 14 and travel approximately 20 miles to Hwy 141, and follow above directions.

Depending on where you are coming from please keep in mind that your GPS and or Google Maps may take you on USFS roads.  DO NOT DO THAT.  Use either WA state Hwy 14 or I-84 in Oregon to access Hwy 141.  The secondary roads are often, gravel and not easily traveled with a horse trailer.
