These trails are not for the meek. There are some extreme trails here but the trail we are using and the obstacles will be placed in locations that allow you to avoid anything too difficult. There is a gravel road that runs down the middle of the park if you need to exit the trail and go onto the next obstacle via the road.
There is plenty of space for camping but it is primitive. I ask that you camp in or near site 2 or 5 since that will be the event parking area. Please bring your own system for keeping your horses safe overnight. There is a restaurant nearby or you can take a short drive into Warsaw to eat at one of the local spots.
There will be 6 obstacles throughout approximately 6 miles of trails. Most of the obstacles will be natural with a few man made thrown in.
The terrain is very hilly and what goes up, must come down. That being said, the course is broken up with plenty of flat trails along the ridges.
Trails are mostly dirt with only a few rocky areas so shoes are not necessary (IMO) but if you need to exit the trail for any reason, there is a gravel road to follow back to camp.
There will be coffee and pastries for breakfast Saturday morning and I will provide lunch. I am asking for donations for the food because all proceeds are going to the park for maintenance and improvements. All other meals will be on your own if you are camping.
Beautiful ribbons 1st-6th place Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced! 1st-3rd place Junior (age 13-17), 1st-3rd place Youngin' (age 7-12), and 1st place Newcomer!
There will also be participation awards and small items from the Judge's picks. No one will leave empty-handed.
I am also raffling off a $100.00 gift card to Southern States.
Camping is free but please leave your site the way you found it so it stays free for future use. When you arrive please call (859) 567-7021 and tell them you are an ETS contestant and are parking at camp site 5 or 2.
If you are making this a camping trip, please avoid the marked trails for the challenge. There are maps for the park located in the mailbox as you enter or you can use the app. Maprika.
Event parking will be along Stagger Ridge located half way up the gravel drive. There will be a port-a-let in that location for your convenience.

From Louisville take I-71 toward Cincinnati. Take exit 62 for US-127 toward Glencoe/ Owenton. Turn left onto US-127 for 3.5 miles. Turn right onto US-42 for 1.2 miles. Turn left onto KY-1992. Go 6.2 miles and you will drive straight into Hartig Park.
From Cincinnati take I-71 toward Louisville. Take exit 62 for US-127 but turn right onto US-127. Proceed as above.
