About The Venue

Frontier Park is located in the beautiful quaint town of Graham, WA. It offers a huge 300+' by 150' outdoor arena and a smaller warm-up arena. There are two barns and each barn has 44 solid 10x10 stalls all under cover. Every stall has rubber mats.

Overnight participants must use stalls and bring their own shavings if desired. Please . The wash rack near the barn is up and running. Please bring your own hose and nozzle. Please keep the area around your trailer picked up and strip your stall before leaving for home and dump manure in designated location.

Dry camping is available in a large parking lot if self-contained. There will be a port-a-potty located near the arena. There are no shower facilities available.

Day riders are most welcome! Day use parking is allowed to tie to trailers.

Dogs must be kept on a leash or contained at all times and must be picked up after. No dogs are to be left unattended.

The 3 events will consist of challenging obstacles in a large arena and smaller arena.

Frontier Park is conveniently located close to gas stations, Safeway, Walgreens, a variety of fast food restaurants, as well a lovely Italian and Mexican restaurant. All are less than 1 mile from Frontier Park. There's even a Walmart Supercenter that's only 3 miles away!  :-)

Event Details

I hope y'all will come check out Frontier Park in Graham for a fun weekend of 3 different events. For those who don't know, Frontier Park is home to the Pierce County Fairgrounds. This is where I began my competitive equine sport in arena trail when I was involved in 4-H many moons ago (about 42 years ago, but who's counting? LOL).

  • Friday afternoon: Early check-in starting at 5pm. Early arrivals are welcome at 3pm, but please note that there is a $10 per horse fee by Pierce County Parks if riding before 5pm on Friday. You may reserve a ride time before 5pm by going to this link: https://fareharbor.com/embeds/book/piercecountywa/items/509086/calendar/2024/02/?flow=no&full-items=yes
  • Saturday AM: Obstacle Course (OC) – a mounted event in an arena. A saddle (treeless included) and headstall with reins are required. All riding disciplines are welcome. Minors 17 and under must wear helmets.
  • Sunday AM: In Hand (IH) – a dismounted event in an arena. You may have your equine saddled, but halters with lead ropes are recommended. All equines welcome – any size, breed, and age. Minors 17 and under must wear helmets (yes, minors must wear helmets for In-Hand). About 45 minutes after the last Handler is off the course, we'll transition to the Obstacle Course (OC) challenge.
  • Sunday afternoon: Obstacle Course (OC) – a mounted event in an arena. A saddle (treeless included) and headstall with reins are required. All riding disciplines are welcome. Minors 17 and under must wear helmets.

Awards will follow about an hour after the last rider is off course. We will honk the horn once scores are entered and results are available. We will do our best to hustle getting this all done so competitors can head home after our fun weekend.

The Terrain

Excellent arena sand footing in the large arena as well as the smaller warm up arena near the barns

Nearby Trail: Gravel driveway on the way to the trail in the woods. The terrain is mostly flat with some small hills. There are some rocks but most of the trail is compact dirt.

Meals

* Please note: Alcohol is not permitted in Frontier Park.

Meals are on your own at your leisure. There are fast food restaurants such as Subway, Sun's Teriyaki, Burger King, Starbucks, Jack-in-the-Box, Mongolian Grill, Domino's Pizza, Little Caesars Pizza, and other dine-in restaurants less than one mile away. Puerto Vallarta is directly across the street. Safeway (they have a deli and takeout) is only 0.6 mile away.

*Saturday potluck is at 6pm or shortly after awards. We hope you'll join us for the festivities. My husband Steve will be making some homemade chili made with our own home-grown beef. Please bring your favorite dish to share and a beverage of your choice (non-alcoholic).

Please be sure to take the south entrance to Frontier Park. There is a traffic light at the entrance to the equestrian area. That road is Eustis Hunt Rd. E, and there's a Puerto Vallarta restaurant across the street. Drive straight into Frontier Park and stay to the left. When you pass the kiddie playground, you'll see the end of the arena. Turn left and drive clockwise around the arena.
