About The Venue

Don Donnelly's D-spur Ranch and Stables is located in the foothills of the legendary Superstition Mountains on 5,800 acres of pristine Sonoran desert in Gold Canyon, Arizona.  On your adventures through the Sonoran desert, you may see the beautiful and exciting local wildlife such as coyotes, javelina, mule deer and longhorn cattle (as this is a working cattle ranch).  All surrounded by the glory of the majestic Superstition mountains.  Come join in the fun and have a real "Western" kinda weekend!   

Event Details

Friday Obstacle Clinic 11-3 pm reserve early (below), limited.

Saturday we will have an In Hand Challenge, followed by a TC - Trail Challenge, a short 5 miles adjacent to the ranch. 

Sunday we will have an Obstacle challenge around the ranch, followed by a TC- Trail challenge, short 5 miles adjacent to the ranch.

The Terrain

The trails have good footing for the ride, all in the mountain foothills with very little climbing and easy trails.  With great views, surrounded by the serene beauty of the Superstition mountains.

Meals

We DO HAVE a great food truck for Saturday!!  Please help support them so they will come again!!  We are changing the lunch time to in between the two events as the truck has to leave around 2 or 3.

Awards

Beautiful ribbons 1st-6th place Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced! 1st-3rd place Junior (age 13-17), 1st-3rd place Youngin' (age 7-12), and 1st place Newcomer!

ETS Lifetime Awards FOR BOTH EQUINE AND RIDER;  EQUINE CARROT CLUB - Equine earn points; Your equine will earn a beautiful kilt pin adding copper, bronze, silver and golden carrot charms as they progress through the levels. Equine Placement Points accumulate no matter who rides the equine. 

STAR RIDER CLUB - RIDERS earn points; You will earn a beautiful kilt pin adding copper, bronze, silver and golden star charms as you progress through the levels. This kilt pin will come with an Equine Trail Sports iron on patch to attach it to. Rider Placement Points accumulate no matter which equine is ridden. 

Additional Fees

Payment for ALL Amenities reserved at the time of online registration are due ON SITE Saturday morning and are NOT collected at the time of online registration.  There is a $10 per day, per horse ranch fee, along with camping and stalls collected at check-in.

There will be a deposit for the clinic and balance due will be collected Friday morning.  

Additional Opportunities

Obstacle clinic on Friday Feb. 26th!  4 hours of detailed instruction 11am to 3 pm.  Sign up under Amenities to reserve you spot!  (very limited).  I will be asking for a $40 (half down, nonrefundable deposit).  I will email you with details and logistics for the clinic.

Event Host Directions:

From I-60- Superstition and the east 202 loop intersection, (Ellsworth Rd. in Mesa) Head about 13.5 miles East staying on I-60. (I 60 will turn to a 4 lane divided highway), proceed past the lights in the small town of Gold Canyon.  Once you leave this residential area you will look for the light at Peralta Road and Trail head (brown sign), Turn Left at E. Peralta Road and go about 2.3 miles- past the construction and over 2 cattle guards. (Part paved, part gravel road). You will see the Donnelly D- Spur Ranch & Horseback Riding sign on the right. Go to the very Back of the ranch for Camping.  I will assign the "top or bottom" camp area to you.  If Day use; you will be up closer to the arena in the front parking (as you first pull in just past the stalls) for Day Use parking.
