About The Venue

This event will take place at two different locations. On Friday, The Trail Ride will be at the Richland Horse Park, connected to the WE Johnson Preserve. The Preserve has 236 acres of trail riding, including equestrian-specific parking, natural and constructed horse skill obstacles, updated signage and landscaping, a trail obstacle course and jump area. It has easy access from Hwy 240, local accommodations, shopping and restaurants nearby.

Those of you needing to check in on Thursday for camping and stalls at the Franklin County Saddle Club will be able to do so. We are also looking into dry camping opportunities at WE Johnson for Thursday night.  More information will be available as we get closer to the event date.

On Saturday and Sunday, the In-Hand and Mounted obstacle portions will be held at the Franklin County Saddle Club. The Franklin County Saddle Club has 4 lighted arenas, onsite trail course, wash rack, indoor stalls, 24 RV campsites as well as dry campsites, bathhouse with showers.

Easy access from I-82, local accommodations shopping, and restaurants nearby.

Event Details

 The Franklin County Saddle Club and the Purple Sage Riders of the Back Country Horsemen are collaborating on hosting the Northwest Regional Championships. All competitors are welcome to participate, as we will be having our daily competitions and, for those who qualify through season-long competition, a championship tournament. Whether you are new to ETS, or you are in the running for our year-end championship prizes, this is sure to be a fun weekend.  We hope you'll join us!

*On Friday, we’ll start at WE Johnson for a fun Trail Challenge (TC) – a relaxing trail ride with judged obstacles along the trail and possibly in camp. All riding disciplines are welcome.

*Saturday, at the Franklin County Saddle Club we will have the In Hand (IH) – a dismounted event in an arena/field, halter and lead rope preferred. All equines welcome – any size, breed, and age.

*Sunday, we’ll have the Mounted Obstacle Course (OC) – a mounted event in an arena/field. A saddle (treeless included) and headstall with reins are required. All riding disciplines are welcome., followed by awards.

The Terrain

At the Horse Park: Course is dirt with some wood chips and light gravel in areas. Most trails are wide and easy.  There may be some rocks, gravel, and potential water The trail is designed to be beginner safe.  Please, you know your equine and your choice is best. Barefoot, booted or shod.

At the Saddle Club: Excellent dirt footing in all arenas, Onsite trail course is dirt with wood chips some light gravel in areas. 

Meals

Meals are on your own.  There are several restaurants nearby and delivery services such as Uber Eats and Door Dash that will deliver to the Saddle Club and Richland Horse Park.  We are also looking into getting a food truck or two onsite. We will update you as the event gets closer.

Saturday night, we hope you'll join us for a fun potluck in the Club House. Main dish will be provided, please bring your favorite side or dessert.

Awards

Beautiful ribbons 1st-6th place Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced! 1st-3rd place Junior (age 13-17), 1st-3rd place Youngin' (age 7-12), and 1st place Newcomer each day.

Qualified riders will be competing for Championship prizes in all three brackets from a combined score from all three events of the weekend.

We are also awarding the Judge of the Year and Year End Partnership awards.

Additional Fees

Payment for ALL Amenities reserved at the time of online registration are due ON SITE and are NOT collected at the time of online registration.

Additional Opportunities

This year we are offering to all contestants a free NW Regionals T shirt (note the design with the rope) for contestants that register for the event before October 1st. Be sure to indicate your t shirt size when you register. You may order additional ones for $10 each. If your size is not listed, please contact the host directly. We are pleased to announce that PK Photography will be onsite to capture those special moments with you and your equine. Once again, Branded by M, a popular mobile western wear store will be with us.

Also, if you'd rather not strip your stall after a weekend of competition, sign up to have yours done for you.

For Friday: Directions to WE Johnson in Richland will be emailed to you.

The Franklin County Saddle Club is located on road 60 between Argent and Court Street.

From Oregon: Take 395 North to Pasco. Take the Court Street exit, turning left on Court. Proceed a few miles to Road 60. Turn right. Saddle Club will be on the right side. Please use the entrance by the Equine Trail Sports sign.

Traveling East on I82: Take Exit 9, Road 68. Turn right on 68 and proceed to Argent. Turn left at Argent and continue to Road 60. Turn right on Road 60. The Saddle Club will be on the left. Please use the entrance by the Equine Trail Sports sign.

Traveling West on I82: Take Exit 9, Road 68. Turn left on 68 and proceed to Argent. Turn left at Argent and continue to Road 60. Turn right on Road 60. The Saddle Club will be on the left. Please use the entrance by the Equine Trail Sports sign.
