About The Venue

Bluestem Grove in the Ray Roberts State Park.  It is well-maintained and secured by Park staff. Each site has a nice concrete parking pad with tables, grills, and campfire rings.  There are two bathrooms each with hot water in the shower.  Horse stalls have sand floors and a metal roof for shade and rain protection.  There is a large sand Round Pen for lunging or riding. 

Event Details

Saturday

Obstacle Course (OC) – a mounted event with judged obstacles in the camp and field.  All equines welcome – any size, breed, and age.

Trail Challenge (TC) – a relaxing trail ride with judged obstacles along the trail and possibly in camp. All riding disciplines are welcome.

Sunday morning

The Terrain

Trails to the North are mostly sandy and shaded with an area for horses to walk to lakeshore.  Trail to the South has sandy and rocky spots and a concrete tunnel that crosses beneath a highway.  

Meals

Coffee and donuts free on both days.

Saturday and Sunday - Lunch and will be made available for a fee. 

Saturday Evening - Pot Luck Dinner - LRRETA will provide the main course.  Please bring a dessert or side dish. 

Reserve your meal when registering.

Awards

Beautiful ribbons - 1st-6th place Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced! 1st-3rd place Junior (age 13-17), 1st-3rd place Youngin' (age 7-12), and 1st place Newcomer.

Lifetime Awards (Equine & Rider) - Sign up 2 weeks in advance to get your qualifying awards!

Equine Awards - Your equine will earn a beautiful kilt pin adding copper, bronze, silver, and golden carrot charms as they progress through the levels. Equine points accumulate no matter who rides the equine. 

Rider Awards - You will earn a beautiful kilt pin adding copper, bronze, silver, and golden star charms as you progress through the levels. Rider Points accumulate no matter which equine is ridden. 

Additional Fees

Payment for ALL Amenities reserved at the time of online registration is NOT collected at the time of online registration. Due to State Park campsite reservation requirements, LRRETA will send invoices for Campsite and Amenities payment in mid-September.  Campsite reservations will be canceled and made available to others if invoices are not paid by Oct 8th.  Any cancellation of campsites before Oct 16th will incur a $10 cancellation fee. Sorry, campsite cancellations after Oct 16 cannot be refunded.

If weather causes LRRETA to cancel the event, campsite fees WILL be refunded upon request.  

Registering online will give you the best (early bird) pricing! There is a $10 increase per entry for onsite registration.

There is a $7 State Park entry fee per Adult that is collected at the Park entrance gate.  Coggins will be checked there as well.  A State Park pass can be used to avoid the $7 fee.

Additional Opportunities

Obstacle Course will be left available for practice after the Obstacle Course event has completed.
