JUDGE CERTIFICATION

 ETS provides Judge training with the objective of providing a fair standard of scoring on a national level.

The certification steps are designed to be done in order. 

STEP 1 - Register for a Judge Webinar. Online registration is mandatory and free. Space is limited and classes fill up quickly. Another option is to attend a live Judge Clinic, search for a JC (Judge Clinic) on the Events page to register for a live Judge Clinic.

You must complete Steps 2,3, & 4 before attending the Judge Webinar/Clinic.  

STEP 2  - Study the ETS Judge Materials

• Rule Book
• Judge Information Sheet
• Judging Standards
• Decision Tree / Simplified Decision Tree
   

STEP 3 - Complete the  Knowledge Check (30 questions)

STEP 4 - Complete the Instructional Videos (1 hour in total)

STEP 5 - Attend the Judge Webinar or live Judging Clinic that you registered for in Step 1 (1 - 1 1/4 hrs.).

STEP 6 - Complete the Practical Judging Exercise, be sure to use the Decision Tree for this step.

STEP 7 - Judge 2 ETS Classes

• Judges must act according to the ETS Judge Pledge.
• Feel free to reach out to any host of an event you'd like to judge for, their contact icons are found on their event page.
• The host will assign you in the system to your obstacle(s), this gives you credit towards your certification.

CERTIFICATION

• Once the above steps are completed, you will receive an automated email notifying you of your certification. 
• Once certified, you will be eligible for the Judge Award Program.
• You tell us which event to send your certification badge & patch to via your My Judges page. This will need to be requested at least 2 weeks in advance of the event you will be attending.
