About The Venue

“The Apache Trail combines the grandeur of the Alps, the glory of the Rockies, the magnificence of the Grand Canyon and then adds the indefinable something that none of the others have. To me it is the most beautiful panorama nature has created.”   - President Theodore Roosevelt

Goldfield is the gateway to the Legendary Superstition Mountains.

Some History of Goldfield:  Back in the 1890's Goldfield boasted 3 saloons, a boarding house, general store, blacksmith shop, brewery, meat market and a school house, along with the mines. Just when it looked like the town would outgrow Mesa, the vein faulted, the grade of ore dropped and the town died a slow painful death. After several unsuccessful attempts to reopen the mines, the town did come to life again from 1910 on and off until 1926. After more than 115 years, travelers from all over the world still visit this gold mining town located on the historic Apache Trail and enjoy the excitement and grandeur of Arizona's Wild West!

Event Details

If you have not been to an ETS TC ride before, we will brief everyone in the morning then head out on the trail.  You will ride in small groups of 4-7 riders.  You will sign up for "ride out" times the morning of the ride that will stagger the depart times for the groups.  The trail will be clearly marked for groups to follow and get to all 6 obstacles.

After the ride at the Goldfield Ghost Town you can walk down Main Street, watch the gunfights, explore the many shops and historic buildings. Tour the historic Mammoth Gold Mine and visit the Goldfield Museum. Pan for gold or take a ride on Arizona's only narrow gage train or horse drawn carriages. You may also get to witness an old west gun fight performed by the famous Goldfield Gunfighters! The town has merchants who create their art work right in front of you -the horseshoe guy “San Tan Metal Art” has awesome works of art, “Mudslinger” has wonderful ceramics and “Monika's Gallery” interprets the southwest landscapes quite beautifully.  Spend a fun filled afternoon, rich in Wild West history!

The Terrain

Trails are surrounded by the mighty Superstitions and the beauty of the Goldfield Mountains.  Some sandy washes and small foothills with tons of views nestled between these two mountain ranges!  Our trails are rated 3- 4 with no ledges or really tough areas.  Shoes or boots are recommended.  Great views of the mountains, town and the entire east valley!  It’s a wonderful place for photography or just enjoying the grandeur of the Superstitions.

Our ride will be about 6-7 miles long and is rated easy to moderate.  Although the trails are not very rocky, it is recommended to have shoes or bring boots along.

Meals

We will meet at the historic “Mammoth Steak House & Saloon” for lunch, raffle, awards and fun afternoon on the patio around 2 or 2:30 pm and don't forget; Ride awards and Year End Awards!!
