About The Venue

7th Annual Flagstaff events!!  Come join in the fun and join in one, two or three days to pick from with FOUR events!  In the cool forests of Flagstaff at a WONDERFUL horse facility!  This is the PERFECT place to camp, ride and relax with your horse!! 

Backed up to the beautiful Coconino Forest the "NARS" facility is the ideal location for our 3 day weekend!  We will kick off the weekend with two fun but challenging Obstacle courses, both In Hand and Mounted! Both in the afternoon so that you can even drive up that morning!   8 judged obstacles- In Hand, with another 8 Mounted directly after!  Of course all with the option to pick your level of challenge from "3 different versions" of that obstacle!

Friday- In Hand Obstacle Course at 1 pm (riders briefing at 12 pm)If you are late to arrive let me know.  We will be taking entries until about 1:30 pm on Friday for the first OC, (please call to let us know you are on your way!). 

Friday - Mounted Obstacle Course at 3 pm (riders briefing at 2:30 pm)  6 pm Pot Luck dinner Friday  

Saturday morning- TRAIL Challenge 6-7 mi; 10 am with a briefing at 9 am - 6 judged obstacles on the trail.  Awards and lunch afterward. 6 pm Pot Luck dinner Saturday    

Sunday morning TRAIL Challenge 6 -7 mi: 10 am, briefing at 9:30 am. We should be wrapping up by about 2 pm.

The Terrain

Ride through the beautiful pines and meadows with some hills.  Mostly good footing with some rock, so bring your boots if not shod.  We usually see lots of deer and elk, with possibly turkey and other wildlife, so take your time and enjoy the scenery!  The OC's are in an open field with some trees, hills and obstacle area.

Meals

LUNCH and BREAKFAST on Saturday and Sunday with Breakfast sandwiches and coffee and Dogs for lunch by DEAN with Big Meaty Dogs!  

Potluck dinners Friday and Saturday nights at the "picnic area" at 6 pm each night. Bring a dish and if you'd like something to throw on the grill!  Help clean up afterward,   NO food or garbage can be left there overnight! we don't want to feed the little (or big) animals!  lol  

Awards

Beautiful ribbons 1st-6th place Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced and special awards for Shout Outs and other things!

ETS Lifetime Awards FOR BOTH EQUINE AND RIDER

EQUINE CARROT CLUB - Equine earn points;  Your equine will earn a beautiful kilt pin adding copper, bronze, silver, and golden carrot charms as they progress through the levels. Equine Placement Points accumulate no matter who rides the equine.

STAR RIDER CLUB - RIDERS earn points; You will earn a beautiful kilt pin adding copper, bronze, silver, and golden star charms as you progress through the levels. This kilt pin will come with an Equine Trail Sports iron-on patch to attach the kilt pin. Rider Placement Points accumulate no matter which equine is ridden.   

Additional Fees

**EARLY REGISTRATION has benefits!  If you sign up for the events BEFORE Monday - you will only be charged one $10 facility fee for the entire weekend!  After Sept. 2, it will be $10 per day, this Facility Fee is in addition to camping and stalls. 

FACILITY FEE:  $10 per day - per horse, facility fee will be collected at check-in, at the event. (Fees are FR, SA, SU)

CAMPING: additional $10 per night (or $20 for the weekend, per rig), does not need to be reserved. Pay at our event check-in. There are no hookups but water is available at the barn. Please be considerate with your parking space, remember to allow for 25- 35 more rigs! 

STALLS: Outdoor - $10 per night- outdoor, and need to be paid directly to our Stall Coordinator upon arrival.  There are also a few Indoor stalls available; $20 per night, check with me on availability. Stalls are limited, reserve at; marysutherland@msn.com   Clean your own stalls and pile manure outside of your pen. * Also please put your name and phone number on a stall in case of emergency!  If you use a hose by the stalls or barn please put them back so they are not across roads. 

**Please do NOT contact NARS for stalls or any other reservations.**

***HELP clean the picnic /potluck area too, please!!  NO food or garbage can be left in the picnic area overnight, remember there is wildlife there!!  DOGS must be leashed at all times, and clean up after, please. 

Additional Opportunities

Don't forget there are 4 events over the weekend to sign up for, In-Hand and Mounted OC and 2 Trail Challenges!

We are also in need of a few more VOLUNTEERS & JUDGES!  Since this is a big weekend and is out of town, we could use some more volunteers!  Even if you are riding some of the days, you would be very much appreciated and needed to help other days or anything in between!  Have you ever wanted to learn more about what judges are looking for and what it's like to be a judge? Join in with your horse a day or two and judge another day!  We will train you!  See ya'll soon!

The Northern AZ Riding Stables facility is located just miles south of downtown Flagstaff right off of I-17. I-17 to Exit 333 Kachina Blvd./Mountainaire Rd. Turn East at the stop sign, go 1/2 mile to Old Munds Highway and turn left, go 1/4 mile to property driveway on left, turn at the "Northern Arizona Riding Stables" sign. (mailbox marked "3090") From I-40, take I-17 South towards Phoenix 6 miles and then follow the above directions.
