P & M Arena is a great facility with several arenas and an obstacle area, restrooms, and limited stalls. Also near Usery Mountain Park! Come and enjoy the Awesome obstacle course, with hills and dales! Lots of great challenges!
Usery Mountain Regional Park. Located just outside of P & M Arena, this park takes in 3,648 acres set at the western end of the Goldfield Mountains, adjacent to the Tonto National Forest.
The park contains a large variety of plants and animals that call the lower Sonoran Desert home. Along the most popular feature of the park, the Wind Cave Trail, water seeps from the roof of the alcove to support hanging gardens of Rock Daisy. The Wind Cave is formed at the boundary between the volcanic tuff and granite on Pass Mountain. Breathtaking views from this 2,840-foot elevation are offered to all visitors. You may likely see deer, javelina, birds, and coyotes on your ride through the park!
Saturday
In Hand (IH) – a dismounted event in an arena/field, halter and lead rope preferred. All equines welcome – any size, breed, and age.
SA Obstacle Course (OC) – a mounted event in an arena/field. A saddle (treeless included) and headstall with reins are required. All riding disciplines are welcome.
SA Trail Challenges (TC) – a relaxing trail ride with judged obstacles along the trail and possibly in camp. All riding disciplines are welcome.
The Obstacle Course and In Hand events will be in the arena and obstacle area, sand dirt footing.
Our TC rides will be about 5 miles long towards Usery Park and are rated easy to moderate. Although the trails are not very rocky, there are rocky portions and it is recommended to have shoes or bring boots along.
