The Equine Obstacle Training Center is 5 acres of horse obstacle awesomeness located in the foothills near south Riverside in Southern California. We offer professional obstacle training from introductory to advanced for all disciplines. self-guided "open practice" time, clinics, group and private lessons as well as hosting open competitions. EOTC also offers boarding, training, (stallions and wild horses welcome).
The sports of Working Equitation, Western Dressage, Cowboy Dressage, Equine Trail Events and Obstacle Challenges are our specialty. Hope you visit us soon.
The ETS Turkey Trot Obstacle Challenge on Saturday November 18 will be the Grand Opening event for the Equine Obstacle Training Center.
SATURDAY MORNING 8:30:
There will be a judges clinic Saturday Morning from 8:30am - 11:30am. It is critical for the sport to train more judges. If you are unable to compete, hopefully you can make the judges clinic.
SATURDAY AFTERNOON 1:00:
The Obstacle Challenge will start at 1:00 PM. Registration at 12:00. The course will be in a 2 acre enclosed field which has safe sandy footing. There are lots of fun obstacles out side the competition area which riders will have access to for the full day when they are not on course. Awards ceremony will be during the BBQ Saturday evening.
SUNDAY ALL DAY: (9:00 - 4:00)
Open Obstacle Course Play Day
The Equine Obstacle Training Center is a private 5 acre horse training facility located in an arid semi-desert region. The entire 5 acres has a medium slope from top to bottom and consists of a DG / sand based footing, perfect for any kind of horse shod or barefoot. There are over 80 pepper trees to help with shade.
A short 2 block ride out the front gate is an entrance to the Harford Springs Nature Preserve, owned by Riverside Co. Parks Dept. It is a Horse and foot hiking only, (no mountain or motor bikes), primitive (no water or restrooms), riding area with both single track and fire road trails, where you can choose the flat sandy trails or the steep rocky ones. Feel free to plan your personal trail ride thru the park anytime you are visiting The Equine Obstacle Training Center .
In celebration of our GRAND OPENING. The Equine Obstacle Training Center will be hosting a FREE continental breakfast both Saturday and Sunday with Coffee, Tea, juice, fruit, donuts and Danish.
We will also put on a Grand Opening - Awards Ceremony BBQ Saturday Night at the end of the competition, with Burgers, dogs, and all the fixins' for $7.00. Everyone - competitors, judges, family, and friends are all welcome. Please RSVP the number of meals you would like with your online registration.
You should bring your own lunch and drinks. The closest tiny convenience store is 4 miles away at the corner of Gavilan Rd and Ida Leona it does have plenty of trailer parking. There is a small store with a fresh sub-sandwich counter with a complete hay/feed store next door about 12 miles away on Cajalco Rd. at Lake Mead. There is no fast food with in 30 minutes of facility.
Fresh city water is available for your equines, bring your own bucket.
Well it's not called the Turkey Trot for nothing!! Besides beautiful ETS Rosettes for 1st - 6th place. miscellaneous fun prizes from the Equine Obstacle Training Center, there will be TURKEYS!!!! Yes! The best lucky riders will win TURKEYS!!!! Get your gobble on!!
Overnight stabling ($20), open practice and BBQ dinner ($7) fees (listed in Amenity Reservations).
JUDGES CLINIC:
Saturday Morning we will be offering a ETS Judges Clinic. I cannot stress the importance and the need for judges. This is a great place to start your judging career and / or give back to your local equestrian community when you are able to by periodically judging at a local ETS event. The judges clinic has a few prerequisites, but it is FREE to attend and includes a continetal breakfast hosted by EOTC - The Equine Obstacle Training Center of Southern California.

This event is being held at the Equine Obstacle Training Center located at Kigers de los Californios 18880 Country Pine Rd. 92570 in Gavilan Hills/Lake Mathews/So. Riverside. We are N of Hwy 74, S of Hwy 91, E of Hwy 215 and W of Hwy 15.
From Cajalco turn south at light onto Gavilan Rd. up 2.3 mile steep canyon road. When it levels out you will go thru a sm neighborhood, then
LEFT on Ida Leona, if you get to the little market on your left and the giant mansion on your right you just missed the turn onto Ida Leona, make U-turn in Market Parking lot.
Ida Leona runs along the side of the Harford Springs Preserve great trail riding. Go 1.3 miles.
Turn LEFT onto Gold Valley Rd. GIANT Red Barn on NE corner. Then 0.63 miles
If you reach Juniper Rd you've gone 0.2 miles too far past Gold Valley, must make a U-turn!!
About 1/4 mile up Gold Valley you will come to Country Pine Rd on your left or West. DO NOT TURN LEFT THERE. Your GPS will tell you to turn right there. DO NOT TURN RIGHT THERE EITHER.
Go up another block and Country Pine Rd. will now be on your Right (east).
Turn RIGHT on Country Pine Rd. (dirt) second ranch on the right, angled driveway
TRAILER PARKING AT FACILITY IS LIMITED, PLEASE CAR POOL IF POSSIBLE. YOU MAY ALSO PARK IN THE DIRT LOT AT THE CORNER OF GAVILAN RD. AND LDA LEONA IN FRONT OF THE STORE AND ENJOY A BEAUTIFUL TRAIL RIDE THROUGH HARFORD SPRINGS NATURE PERSERVE TO THE FACILITY (ABOUT AN HOUR RIDE).
There is little to no cell reception once you start up the hill from Gavilan Rd. no cell reception at Facility. The only dirt road you will drive on is in front of the ranch on Country Pine Rd. If you come from some other direction, get lost or your GPS (or copilots) tell you to turn on any dirt roads they are lying don’t do it! Turn around and start over staying on the asphalt!
