About The Venue

Running I Ranch is located in the beautiful California North Central Valley just at the base of the Coastal Mountains. Conveniently located just an hour north of Sacramento (I-5) and two hours east of the Bay Area (I-505). There is an array of fun obstacles to play and compete on which will be utilized for our weekend events!

Dry camping is available. Campers must use 12' x 12' paddocks for horses and bring their own shavings.

Event Details

Saturday In-Hand Obstacle Challenge (IH) - the In-Hand event obstacles are completed dismounted. You may be saddled, halters with leads are recommended. All non-riding equines are welcome and encouraged to compete!

Saturday Obstacle Trail Challenge (OT) - A relaxing 2 mile ride with judged obstacles placed on property trail course. 

Saturday Mounted Jackpot Obstacle Challenge (RR) - timed race, 50% payout of entry fees. Basic judging criteria, time added for missed criteria. (this does not count for ETS Placement points, Ranking points, or tournaments) Adult Division (18+ yrs):, Youth Division (7 - 17 yrs) This event will be open within one hour after the In-Hand Obstacle Challenge until 4pm

Sunday Mounted Obstacle Challenge (OC)  - the Mounted event obstacles are completed while riding in the saddle in the arena. All riding disciplines are welcome as well as bit-less headstalls.

Sunday Obstacle Trail Challenge (OT) - A relaxing 2 mile ride with judged obstacles placed on property trail course. 

Sunday Gambler's Choice Obstacle & Prize Drawing (RR)-  This will be a fast & fun event and a great way to spend time in between your ride out times and awards or just on its own! (this does not count for ETS Placement points, Ranking points, or tournaments) 

Riders will have three minutes to get through as many obstacles as they can. Ten obstacles will be set up in an arena. You will receive one ticket per obstacle completed. You will not be judged at the obstacles but you will be required to get all four feet through. Obstacles will be relatively simple (ex. bridges, tarps, car wash, vines, etc) 

This event will be open within one hour after the Mounted Obstacle Challenge until 2 pm. All tickets will be put into a container and the drawing will be held right before the awards ceremony. A prize table will be available with a variety of items to choose from. When your ticket number is called you will choose which prize you would like. There will be 10+ drawings. Max of two winnings per person.

The Terrain

Flat, easy footing in obstacle arena and throughout property trail course, sand footing in warm up arena and round pen.

+ WEEKEND HIGH POINT RIBBONS/AWARDS AT FINAL EVENT ON SUNDAY

+ PER EACH EVENT Beautiful ribbons 1st-10th place Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced!

1st-3rd place Junior (age 13-17), 1st-3rd place Youngin' (age 7-12), and 1st place Newcomer!

+ 2022 YEAR END Buckle Series! (awarded at our final event Dec 10 - 11th at Rolling Hills Equestrian Center, Corning, CA)

Additional Fees

Payment for ALL Amenities (camping, paddocks, day parking fees and EMMP fees) reserved at the time of online registration are due ON SITE and are NOT collected at the time of online registration.

From the south:

Proceed up Interstate 5 to the town of Dunnigan. Exit the second exit (Dunnigan exit 556/road 6), to the right. Proceed east past the Chevron and Jack in the Box to the stop sign at County Road 99, turn left. Proceed north to County Road 2, turn left and cross over Interstate 5. Proceed west approximately 2 miles (over the Colusa Canal and through a drainage overflow ditch) to Alexander Hill Lane. This private, gravel lane on your right has a swing gate which will be open. Proceed north on this lane to the tree line on your left, enter  through the big ranch gate into the parking area.

From the north:
Proceed down Interstate 5 towards Dunnigan. Exit County Line Road and turn left. Proceed east to the stop sign at County Road 99, turn right. Proceed south to County Road 2, turn right and cross over Interstate 5. Proceed west approximately 2 miles (over the Colusa Canal and through a drainage overflow ditch) to Alexander Hill Lane.
