About The Venue

This is a fun ride around Bell Cow Lake with easy to moderate trails.    All breeds and genders of equines are welcomed and encouraged!  There are short sections of gravel road and small sections of rocks on trail.  Consider using hoof protection if your equine is tender footed.

Current negative Coggins papers dated within 12 months must be presented for all equines in camp.  Additionally, the State of OK requires health papers dated within 30 days of the ride for all out-of-state equines.

Public restrooms with hot showers, 44 electric and primitive campsites with limited space for pens at most campsites.

Camping fees: Electric hookups $22 (seniors $15) and Primitive $11 (seniors $8).  Call Susan Young Mock at (918) 685-0072 to reserve your hookup with a horse pen.  Pay Susan for one of these five spots when you check in at camp.  There are only FIVE horse pens in this campground.  There is also a trail use fee in ADDITION to the camp fee of $6 (seniors $4) a day.  Trail and camping fees (not reserved with Susan) are payable at the Kiosk in the campground.

Event Details

Saturday, we will start with the Trail Challenge (TC), a relaxing trail ride with judged obstacles along the trail and possibly in camp. All riding disciplines are welcome.

We'll break for lunch, then transition to the Obstacle Course (OC), a mounted event in the campground. A saddle (treeless included) and headstall with reins are required.  All riding disciplines are welcome.

About 30 minutes after the last riders are off course, we'll transition to the In Hand (IH) challenge, a dismounted event in the campground, halter and lead rope preferred.  All equines welcome – any size, breed, and age. Awards and potluck will follow an hour after the last handler is off course.  We will honk the horn once all points are tallied and results printed.  Feel free to bring your dish to the pavilion to visit before the horn sounds!

Sunday, we will enjoy a short section of different trails with the Obstacle Trail (OT) Challenge.  Awards will follow an hour after the last rider is off course.  We will honk the horn and meet you at the pavilion.  We will hustle getting points tallied and results printed so riders can head home after our weekend of fun!

The Terrain

The scenic established trails are mostly barefoot friendly and meander through woods and meadows.  There will be short areas of gravel road and some rocky areas on trail.  Plan accordingly.  If your barefoot horse is tender footed, please consider shoes or trail boots.

Meals

There will be no food or water on site (although there are hydrants throughout camp dispensing potable water).

Please bring a pot luck dish for a Saturday evening get together meal.  Bring your own plates, utensils, and drinks.
